About The "Say Hey" Foundation

Mission Statement:
The Say Hey Foundation is dedicated to fulfilling Willie Mays’s dream of giving every child a chance, by offering underprivileged youth positive opportunities and safer communities.

About The "Say Hey" Foundation: The Say Hey Foundation has supported many causes and organizations.  This support is driven from Willie’s direct contact with the community, where people share with  him the needs of individuals and organizations and how Willie’s involvement can make a difference.  They range from providing a Harlem elementary school with instruments for their music program to supporting the efforts of homeless shelters and hospitals; from providing youth baseball teams with equipment, to supporting a clinic for children with diabetes.  The foundation has worked with organizations that provide college scholarships to underprivileged students, fire departments, police departments, juvenile correctional facilities, Boys and Girls Clubs, and job training initiatives.

Willie recognizes that children must have access to education, quality health care, safe communities, and opportunities to succeed.  He also believes children need to know that they too will be expected to give back one day.  One of the best lessons that the Say Hey Foundation can advance is that we all need to conserve, protect, and nourish our communities.  Everyone needs to learn the value of community and giving back.

As a Hall of Fame baseball player and now as an American icon, Willie has always been committed to children and community causes, and his Say Hey Foundation is his proudest legacy.
